BIRMINGHAM CEO Nigel Tolley admits the Club’s supporters deserve more after a week of ‘unacceptable performances’.It comes after the Curtis Sport Brummies were dumped out of the Knockout Cup on Friday with a 61-29 defeat at Scunthorpe.That was just 48 hours after a second straight 54-36 home loss and one week after the Club’s heaviest defeat in over nine years at Glasgow.But with the hope of turning things around and ending the season positively, Tolley has issued supporters with the following update.“When you’re in a situation like we’re in, there’s no shying away from anything,” Tolley said.“I spoke to supporters on Wednesday, I’ve read their comments on social media since and as Directors, we 100 per cent understand their frustration and anger right now.“There’s no defending the indefensible and while the majority of results this season have been way below expectation, the performances over the past week in particular have been unacceptable.“When we took over this Club as a consortium, we said we wanted to be as transparent with supporters as we possibly could so this is where we’re at.“On Thursday, we called an emergency Directors meeting where we spent hours running through all sorts of different things and addressing different issues.“It goes without saying that a shake up is needed and that will be happening.“But in Speedway, it’s not just a case of getting rid of one rider and bringing another in - there are a lot of little things that go on behind the scenes that take a bit of time and it’s something I never realised until I was this side of the fence.“There will be one change which will definitely be in place in time for the trip to Oxford on Wednesday with Dan Thompson being redeclared back into the line-up with his mandatory concussion period out now over.“And there are also one or two other things we’re trying to get over the line which we know we need to have ready in time for when we host Berwick on June 21.“We’ll then give it a few meetings from there and see if anything else needs changing after that.“It would be an understatement to say that we are extremely disappointed with how 2023 has got going.“Yes we’ve had injuries to the likes of James (Wright) and Stefan (Nielsen) but there’s no point us banging on about ‘bad luck Brummies’ because this time around, there is much more to it than that.“There are a number of things we have read from supporters that we as Directors are not satisfied with ourselves and please be assured we are doing what we can behind the scenes to make sure we come to the right decisions with the best interests of the Club at heart.“We would like to thank all of our supporters for sticking with us - we are determined to turn things around for YOU!” ...
